HR Coordinator

Position Summary
The HR Coordinator supports key Human Resources operations with a primary focus on leave of absence administration, workers' compensation return-to-work programs, and driver onboarding. This role serves as an important resource for employees, managers, and business partners by coordinating employee leaves, facilitating successful return-to-work outcomes, and managing onboarding processes for distribution drivers.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Leave of Absence Administration
  • Coordinate and administer employee leaves of absence programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, personal leaves, military leave, and state-mandated leave.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees and managers regarding leave eligibility, required documentation, and return-to-work requirements.
  • Track leave status, maintain records, and ensure timely communication throughout the leave process.
  • Coordinate with third-party administrators, healthcare providers, managers, and employees to support compliance and positive employee outcomes.
Workers' Compensation & Return-to-Work
  • Support workers' compensation claim administration in partnership with the Safety and Risk Manager.
  • Coordinate employee communication, medical documentation, work status updates, and claim-related records.
  • Administer the company's Transition2Work (Return-to-Work) program by coordinating modified-duty assignments and facilitating successful employee reintegration.
  • Monitor employee return-to-work progress and communicate updates to managers and key stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate workers' compensation records and reporting.
Driver Onboarding
  • Coordinate onboarding activities for distribution drivers and other designated positions.
  • Ensure completion and accuracy of required hiring documentation, compliance requirements, and pre-employment processes.
  • Coordinate motor vehicle record (MVR) reviews and driver qualification documentation.
  • Work closely with operations leaders, recruiting partners, and new hires to ensure smooth onboarding experience.
  • Maintain accurate employee files and onboarding records.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Human Resources, administrative support, employee onboarding, leave administration, workers' compensation, payroll, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience supporting DOT-regulated or commercial driver hiring and onboarding processes.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or other Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS). Prior roles supporting analyst or data entry work for these systems is a plus.
  • Manufacturing, transportation, distribution, or multi-site experience.
  • HR certification such as a PHR preferred.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements, return-to-work programs, and workplace safety practices.
