Accounting Supervisor

Location: Onsite – Scottsdale, AZ area Employment Type: Full-time, Salaried

About the Role

This growing organization is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to lead a small team responsible for core accounting operations, including accounts payable, treasury and banking functions, fixed assets, prepaid accounts, and month-end close. The role reports into senior finance leadership and plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, strong internal controls, and a well-run accounting department.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on people leader who enjoys coaching staff, improving processes, and partnering cross-functionally to keep operations running smoothly.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee daily accounting operations across AP, banking/treasury, fixed assets, prepaid accounts, and related functions.
  • Ensure transactions are processed accurately and in accordance with GAAP and internal policy.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
  • Review team members' work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff; assign work and monitor performance.
  • Contribute to performance reviews, development plans, and team engagement.
  • Support internal controls and assist with internal/external audits.
  • Identify process gaps or control concerns and recommend improvements.
  • Analyze financial data to spot discrepancies, trends, and opportunities.
  • Partner with other departments to resolve accounting issues and streamline workflows.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and personnel information.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
  • CPA preferred, not required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 1–2+ years leading, training, or supervising accounting staff.
  • Solid background in AP, general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Experience in a multi-site, healthcare, or investor-backed environment is a plus.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort with accounting software systems.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Clear communicator, detail-oriented, and collaborative.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $100,000–$125,000, based on experience and qualifications.
