The Vice President of Accounting will initially lead the Corporate Accounting and Consolidations group with future responsibilities to include operational accounting and Tax. The company is a publicly traded, multi-location organization with approximately $1 billion in annual revenue and 50 operating locations.
This role is responsible for the integrity, scalability, and modernization of the company’s accounting infrastructure, ensuring strong internal controls, accurate inventory and revenue accounting, and high-quality financial reporting. The VP of Accounting will be a key member of the finance leadership team and a strategic partner to the CFO, driving enterprise-wide accounting transformation, centralization, and automation. While the CFO serves as the Principal Accounting Officer (PAO), this role owns day-to-day accounting execution, governance, and leadership across the enterprise. The CFO is looking for someone who can get up to speed quickly and own the accounting function from nuts to bolts.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Leadership & Governance
- Lead all corporate and financial reporting functions.
- Establish and enforce standardized accounting policies and procedures across all locations.
- Assist in leading the centralization of accounting into the Chandler Corporate office.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, public company standards, and industry-specific accounting practices.
- Serve as primary accounting advisor to executive leadership and the Audit Committee.
Public Company & SEC Support
- Provide oversight and governance for SEC reporting through the Director of SEC Reporting.
- Partner with the CFO on complex accounting judgments, estimates, and disclosures.
- Support earnings cycles, investor reporting, and Audit Committee materials.
- Own the quarterly reviews and annual audit.
Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Own internal control over financial reporting (ICFR) and SOX compliance from a management perspective.
- Design and maintain controls over high-risk areas.
- Partner with the Sr. Director of Internal Audit in ensuring a sound control environment and that proper controls are implemented as processes are updated/improved.
Accounting Transformation & Automation
- Lead enterprise-wide accounting transformation initiatives focused on centralization, standardization, and automation.
- Drive modernization of accounting systems, ERP platforms, and close automation tools.
- Redesign monthly close processes to improve speed, accuracy, and visibility.
- Partner with IT, FP&A, Shared Services and Accounting Operations to enable scalable financial systems supporting growth and acquisitions.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing accounting organization capable of operating in a public company environment.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance metrics across accounting teams.
- Develop future accounting leaders and ensure strong succession planning.
Qualifications
Required
- CPA required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred).
- 15+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience.
- Significant experience in a publicly company environment.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance.
- Proven experience leading accounting transformation and automation initiatives.
