Our client, a manufacturing company is looking for a Controller to lead a small team and be very hands on. This is an office role in Las Vegas, Nevada with a salary in the $160K-$175K plus 20% bonus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Management
- Responsible for supervising the finance and accounting team which consists of general accounting, accounts payable, and cost accounting and controlling associates.
- Monitors and evaluates the performance of accounting and other financial staff; recommend and implement personnel actions such as promotions and dismissals.
- Accounting
- Establishes and maintains current knowledge of company policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
- Establishes, maintains and enforces the Company’s accounting policies and procedures, and related internal controls
- Ensures all transactions are timely and accurately reported in accordance with US GAAP.
- Completes month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handles G/L analysis.
- Directs accounting for all significant areas requiring accounting judgments and estimates.
- Coordinates and monitors capital investment projects in accordance with the Company’s accounting policies.
- Determines depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items, and advises management on actions regarding the purchase, lease, or disposal of such items.
- Provides direction and assistance to other business unit functions regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures, and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.
- Financial/Operations Analysis
- Strong link to Operation team: strategic partner for plant manager for financial analysis, dashboards, reports and explanation of plant results.
- Responsible for monitoring all internal controls and ensuring they are sufficient to mitigate risk in the entire business unit.
- Partner with MP&L team and participates in cycle count and year-end physical inventory, as well as, co-champion of inventory accuracy, sub-contracting process, and receiving issues.
- Supports the CFO and the COO providing financial information, heads-up communications, and details behind month-end results.
- Investigates and supports any cost-saving opportunities developed by the Controller’s team, or from other departments.
- Analyzes cash flow, cost control and expenses, as well as collaborating with the various business and functional leaders to suggest and implement improvements.
- Financial Reporting
- Prepares and distributes monthly internal financial packages and key financial performance indicators
- Assists in preparing financial statements and presentations to Owners, Board of Directors, Lenders and Senior Management
- Planning & Forecasting
- Collaborates with the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) department to maintain forecast models for the business unit
- Work with FP&A to prepare quarterly forecasts for the business unit
- Supports the annual planning process for the business unit
- Treasury Management
- Prepares cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handles daily cash management
- Prepares daily, weekly and monthly cash reports.
- Audit & Tax
- Prepares financial information so that outside accountants can complete tax returns and quarterly tax distributions.
- Prepares information in support of the annual financial audit for the Company.
- Insurance
- Coordinates data gathering for annual liability insurance coverage
- Maintains and enforces the Company accounting policies and procedures, and related internal controls
BACKGROUND REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 10+ experience in accounting
- Experience in manufacturing
- CPA preferred
