Controller

Our client is a market leader in their industry and has been operating in Arizona for over 60 years. An extremely successful business that has grown significantly over the years and plans to continue doing that well into the future. They are a 100% employee-owned company (ESOP), which has created a rare environment where the staff strive to make the company more successful. This is a major factor why they have extremely low turnover, the majority of which is due to normal retirements. Our client is in search of an experienced professional for their accounting and financial management activities who can not only handle the hands-on transactional accounting responsibilities, but also provide the strategic planning and analysis for the longer-range company needs.

This position is open due to retirement and has a base salary up to $150K + bonus plus excellent benefits. This is an in-office position that offers great work/life balance.
 

Responsibilities:

 

Accounting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Record vendor invoices and process for payment
  • Receive and process customer payments
  • Process semi-monthly payrolls and quarterly bonuses
  • Prepare Annual Total Compensation Statements for all employees
  • Assist in the development/implementation of accounting policies and procedures

Finance

  • Cash management, including multiple bank and investment accounts
  • Reconcile all bank and investment accounts
  • Primary liaison to investment advisors

Taxes

  • Prepare documentation for CPA firm preparation of annual tax returns
  • Prepare 1099 forms for vendor payments
  • Review/approve 1099 forms for retirement plan distributions
  • Review/approve 5500 forms for retirement plans

Retirement Plans

  • Primary contact with TPA for Profit Sharing plan and ESOP
  • Prepare information for annual company Valuation for ESOP
  • Review and approve drafts from TPA of annual reports and participant statements
  • Review and approve drafts from TPA of Distribution and Diversification Elections
  • Manage and calculate benefits for Deferred Compensation and Phantom Stock Plans

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting Required
  • Active CPA strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of senior level accounting experience required.
  • Retirement Plan experience required.
  • ESOP experience preferred.
